PAULTRA2
Frigidaire PureAir refrigerator air filter
Oohunt Deal Desk · Last checked 2026-11-02
An air filter, not a water filter. Plenty of people replace the water cartridge for years without realising their fridge takes one of these as well.
Which Frigidaire filter is yours
These are not interchangeable. Match the number on the cartridge you are replacing.

A different job on the same schedule
Frigidaire says to change the air filter every six months, with the filter status light prompting on most models, and that replacing it will ensure optimal filtering of refrigerator odors.
It adds something most interval advice leaves out: you may want to adjust the timing depending on the types and amounts of food you typically store. That is more honest than a flat number, and worth acting on if your fridge holds a lot of strong-smelling food.
The part-number problem we could not resolve
Frigidaire's own install guide is titled for the AF-2. The part widely sold for these refrigerators is the PAULTRA2. Retailers list them as separate part numbers, some sell them as equivalents, and at least one describes the PAULTRA2 as no longer available.
We could not find a Frigidaire cross-reference confirming the two are interchangeable, so we are not going to tell you they are. Read the number off the cartridge, or off the manual, before ordering.
What we can source
Every row names who says it. Anything the manufacturer does not publish is not listed, which is why this is shorter than a retailer’s.

Common questions
- Is PAULTRA2 the same as AF-2?
- We could not confirm it. Frigidaire's install guide is titled for the AF-2, retailers list PAULTRA2 and AF-2 as separate part numbers, and at least one describes PAULTRA2 as no longer available. Check the number on your own cartridge or in the manual rather than assuming.
- How often should the refrigerator air filter be changed?
- Every six months, on Frigidaire's wording, with the filter status light prompting on most models. Frigidaire adds that you may want to adjust the interval depending on the types and amounts of food you typically store.
The bottom line
Worth replacing if your fridge takes one, on the same six-month rhythm as the water filter. Check whether yours wants a PAULTRA2 or an AF-2 first, because the published material does not settle it.
