Frigidaire PureSource 3 water filter
Oohunt Deal Desk · Last checked 2026-11-02
The PureSource 3. It is a push-in cartridge rather than a twist-in one, which makes it the easiest of the three Frigidaire water filters to identify once the old one is out.
Which Frigidaire filter is yours
These are not interchangeable. Match the number on the cartridge you are replacing.

Compared with
The comparisons people actually search for this part, answered from the manufacturer’s own material.
WF3CBvsULTRAWF
No. They are different fittings: the WF3CB pushes in, the ULTRAWF twists. Frigidaire documents them separately and advises reordering the type already fitted, so the cartridge you took out decides it rather than the model number you half remember.
The shape is the giveaway
The two PureSource Ultra cartridges and the PureSource 3 are not variations on one fitting. If what you removed pushes in rather than twists, you are holding a WF3CB and the Ultra cartridges are not alternatives to it.
That is a more reliable test than matching a model number from memory, and it is the one Frigidaire implicitly endorses by telling owners to reorder the type already fitted.
When to change it
Six months, the interval Frigidaire publishes across its refrigerator water filters, with the status light prompting on most models.
Fit it, then flush it
Air gets trapped in the line when a new cartridge goes in. Frigidaire says this can result in two or three empty ice maker cycles, and that if the system is not flushed the first ice cubes may be discolored or have an odd flavor.
Its procedure is to hold a glass against the dispenser paddle until water comes through, which it says may take about one to two minutes, keep dispensing for several minutes to flush the plumbing, then discard that water and repeat a few more times.
So cloudy or odd-tasting water straight after a change is expected rather than a sign of a bad cartridge. Flush it properly before concluding anything.
What we can source
Every row names who says it. Anything the manufacturer does not publish is not listed, which is why this is shorter than a retailer’s.

What Frigidaire says about third-party filters
The manufacturer marketing its own part, not an independent test. Reported, not endorsed.
“Frigidaire Genuine filters offer 3 levels of carbon filtration that trap sediment, chemicals, and harmful impurities. Frigidaire filters are NSF certified, the gold standard in water filtration.”
Common questions
- Where does the WF3CB go?
- It is a push-in cartridge rather than a twist-in one. Frigidaire's filter pages carry the install guides, and the shape difference is the quickest way to tell it apart from the Ultra cartridges.
The bottom line
The push-in cartridge. If the filter you removed twisted out, this is the wrong part and one of the Ultra cartridges is the right one.
